NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC) - Level 1

This certification program is for engineering technicians engaged in the design and layout, and installation and maintenance, of in-building public safety communication systems. The candidates for NICET certification at Level I in In-Building Public Safety Communications should have the knowledge, experience, and basic skills needed to work in the industry.

NICET has updated the In-Building Public Safety Communications (IB-PSC) exams on December 2nd, 2024.

Content Outline:

• Performing Rough Installation Activities (Questions related to these tasks make up 50-60% of the exam.)
  • Read and follow RF system installation documentation.
  • Install cable (e.g., support, fire stopping, grounding, etc.).
  • Terminate cable.
  • Install passive equipment.
• Performing Finish and Trim Out Installation Activities (Questions related to these tasks make up 40-50% of the exam.)
  • Install donor antenna.
  • Install active equipment.
  • Install dedicated annunciator.
  • Install battery backup (BBU).

Candidates are responsible for reviewing the content outline and bringing in allowable printed references that are applicable to what is being tested. Acceptable references may be copied in whole or part.
