NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level 3

Level III FAS Technicians can work independently without supervision. Level III Technicians can conduct installation, perform system maintenance, interpret codes, standards, and specifications to produce fire alarm shop drawings. Level III Technicians can perform fire alarm layout activities, supervise Technicians at Levels I and II, and provide submittal packets. They interact with AHJs. Level III Technicians have at least 5 years of experience in FAS.

  • Maintenance (Questions related to these tasks make up 25-35% of the exam.)
    • Manage periodic testing.
    • Resolve impairments/deficiencies.
    • Prepare documentation and records.
  • Submittal Preparation and System Layout (Questions related to these tasks make up 20-30% of the exam.)
    • Prepare and approve shop drawings.
  • Management and Supervision (Questions related to these tasks make up 10-20% of the exam.)
    • Supervise work activities.
    • Supervise team members.
